FAQs
Where does the name “Please Heed The Call” come from?
It’s classic Bob Dylan:
Come Senators, Congressmen Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt Will be he who has stalled
The battle outside ragin’
Will soon shake your windows and rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’
Why did you start this site?
The bank bailouts of late 2008 make me sick. The American people were completely opposed to these bailouts and yet they were rammed through congress using fear and intimidation. Besides calling my congressman and senators numerous times, I printed out business cards with their contact info and handed these cards out to everybody I saw. We all made a lot of phone call but alas, the legislation still passed. I wanted to offer the same cards to anybody out there that is concerned with the start of affairs of our government and wants to have a louder voice in the legislative process. If you want to see some cards, you can order free samples here.
What is “the call”? What cause are you promoting?
We are not promoting any particular cause and in this case, “the call” is whatever cause you feel deeply about. Our purpose is to make our representatives more attuned to the needs of their constituents, not to advocate for a particular point of view.
Can I customize the back of Advocacy Cards?
Typical Advocacy Cards come with a standard back that gives instruction on what to expect when contacting a legislator. In the past, organizations have wanted to put their logo on the back or add something to the card that is not part of a standard Advocacy Card. If you are interested in customized Advocacy Cards, feel free to contact me and I will get back to you with a custom quote.
What are some uses for Advocacy Cards?
People and organization have used Advocacy Cards for a bunch of different things. They have been handed out at rallies and protests, they have been given to school groups, and they have been handed out at various special interest gatherings. When state or local laws have been debated, they have been handed out at town hall meetings and at special interest group meetings. They have even been handed out in Easter Eggs!
What is the difference between the “Sample Cards” and the “Premium Accountability Cards“?
The main difference is that the Sample Cards do not have the names or contact information of specific Senators or Congressmen. Instead they have the switch board numbers and web-based means to contact legislators. Premium Accountability Cards have the actual phone numbers of the two Senators from your state and the Congressman that represents your zip code. You can get 12 free Sample Cards here and you can order Premium Accountability Cards here.
